The next time you are people watching, try playing a new game. See if you can figure out who is carrying the real deal and who is saving their pennies on their purses. It seems almost half of the women walking down the street have a coach bag, but where did they get it? Did they drop $400 in a Coach retail store to get that trendy bag or did they spend $80 at one of the Coach factory outlet stores? Better yet, have you seen all of the Coach bags they have on ebay?
I recently got a great deal on a NWT (ebay lingo meaning “new with tags”) leather Coach purse and matching wallet. I noticed on the tags it said Coach factory and I was a little perplexed. It seemed that the listing failed to mention that they were from the outlet store. I still loved the purse and wallet, but wondered if I really got the steal of deal that I thought I had. Then on my last vacation, I entered a Coach outlet for the first time. The salesperson assured me that they bags they carried were genuine. It seems that Coach has two lines, their retail line and their outlet line. The salesperson described the outlet as being “the same high quality, but with less bells and whistles than the retail store.” So if you want the trendiest bag, then retail may be for you. However, if you are just looking for than iconic C pattern then you can save 50% or more at the outlet. If you are shopping on ebay be sure to look at the seller’s feedback and ask if it from retail or outlet. So what are your thoughts on outlet shopping? Anyone ever been to a Coach outlet?
Remember the famous leg lamp from the movie “A Christmas Story”? Well, here is something even better…
Moschino, that clever Italian fashion house, is always jabbing a stick in the eye of what fashion should be. They are a creative lot that does not like to be tied down by any sense of tradition. One of their recent forays is in the realm of lighting design. They have taken a number of their iconic pieces, such as the corset dress shown above, and turned them into limited edition lamps for last May’s Milan Furniture Fair. Never before had I stared at a lamp so much.
OK, Brides to Be in 2008… It’s time to start looking for your perfect dress! The newest dresses incorporate interesting textures (papery crumpled silk, cutout lace, pearls and other unique beading), romantic draping and billowing, and vintage lines. We absolutely LOVE these latest looks, as they emphasize the shape of the body, and are constructed to move – making for really beautiful pictures…. we can’t wait to see some of these styles on next year’s brides!

There are few companies whose mission stands out and grabs your attention. Toms Shoes is an example of such a company. I just ran across them from Mahalo Daily and am going to put an order in this afternoon. For every shoe they sell they will take a pair and personally place them on kids feet who are in need. After looking at the video and checking out the site I think this is just fantastic.

Good luck and continued success to the Toms Shoes team. Oh yeah the shoes are really cute!
Bras soon won’t just be fighting the sag. A British researcher is working on a prototype bra that could detect early stages of breast cancer. The “smart bra” uses microwave antennae to pick up on temperature changes that happen when there’s an increase in blood flow to a developing tumor. The same types of passive microwaves are used to pinpoint submarine and distant star locations.
An audible or visual alarm would be built into the bra alerting wearers that they should head to the doctor. This seems like it would be a bit stressful. Especially if it happened during a business meeting or an interview! “Sorry, gotta run. I may have cancer.”
Some docs aren’t too psyched on the whole idea either, citing that many benign growths and nonmalignant inflammatory changes can also increase blood flow. But hey, any research helping women find and fight breast cancer is worth looking into in my breast opinion!

Check out these designs by Eri Utsugi from the Japanese Fashion Week.

Their cotton candy like hair almost looks good enough to eat!
Japanese Designer Yumi Katsura was part of the world master’s haute couture collections of the 16th Dalian Internationall Fashion Festival.

This is a great flowing dress and this design would be beautiful with some vivid colors.
I am almost at a loss for words with this one. I know everyone is wanting to go green and recycle but this maybe a little too far.

Im sure this outfit would be a ’sensation’ at any Halloween party but dont you think you would be a little creeped out if you saw someone wearing this at your local bar?
This fashion trend continues to pop up from time to time. More recently here.

So how does this lady walk? Anyone feel like taking up this type of fashion and going public with it? Yeah I didn’t think so.
Some people may feel violated by this, others may really enjoy it. What do you think? The creativity is great and must be a real conversation maker.

Would the ladies want to see men on the back of their bathroom stalls?
